Diane E. Niemeyer, 82, of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Monday, March 30, 2026, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Centenary United Methodist Church, Shullsburg, where friends may gather after 9 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Shullsburg. The Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, IL, is assisting the family. She was born in Galena on January 10, 1944, the daughter of Joseph and Velma (Temperly) Miller. Diane attended the Galena schools and was part of the class of 1962. She was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Niemeyer on September 29, 1961, in Galena, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2014. Diane worked various jobs in the Galena area, including as a waitress and housekeeper at Chestnut Mountain Resort, as an office manager at Shenandoah Riding Center, and at Eagle Ridge Inn and Resort. Her most important roles in life were being a wife, mother, and homemaker. Diane loved her family and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her five children, Tad (Karen) Niemeyer of Cuba City, WI; Kelly (Dennis) Fields of Monroe, WI; Bobbi Jo (Gina) of Necedah, WI; Tom Niemeyer; and Richard Jr. (Tonda) Niemeyer, both of Shullsburg, WI; six grandchildren, Jody, Robby, Brandy, Tomay, Kevin, and Pippa; eleven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Dick (special friend Kay) Miller, Ron (Libby) Miller, both of Galena; Greg Miller of Earl, WI; and Mark Miller of East Dubuque, IL; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Mary, in infancy, and two grandsons, Randy and Richard III Niemeyer. The Niemeyer family extends a heartfelt thank you to SSM Monroe, Agrace Hospice, Peggy Steger, and Sentinel Home Care for their professionalism and compassionate care. Special thanks to her honorary daughter, Penny Tregloan, for always being there for their mother.
