Chelsea Lynee Chaney
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Chelsea Lynee Chaney, 39, who left us much too soon on August 31, 2024, at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport, IL, surrounded by family and friends. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, IL is assisting the family. She resided in Elizabeth, IL, but was born on April 22, 1985, in Dayton, OH, where she lived out many years of her life. An outgoing and energetic spirit, Chelsea was a beacon of strength and willpower, a trait that touched every aspect of her life. She attended Wayne High School (Huber Heights, OH) and Tecumseh High School (New Carlisle, OH) and went on to attend Sinclair Community College. Chelsea was a Realtor for Keller Williams in Galena. She participated in gymnastics and dance throughout her youth, which she loved greatly. Chelsea was a jack-of-all-trades and did anything she set her mind to, be it painting and contractor work with her dad or participating in a dart and pool league. Chelsea was a devoted sister to Robin Gerdes, Tiffany Carrier, Cameron Chaney, Taylor Flaugher, Sophia Ward, and Mason Ward. She was a beloved daughter to her father, Timothy Chaney; mother, Sheri Ward; stepmother, Richelle Chaney; and stepfather, Melvin Ward. She adored her stepsiblings, Rob Patrick and Stacy Mansfield, and was a loving aunt to many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and several aunts and uncles. Chelsea’s central role was being a loving mother to Carter Chaney, Kaylen Bond, Keagen Bond, and Jack Van Winkle. She taught them to fight hard and love deeply lessons that will continue to guide them throughout their lives. Her radiant presence will be missed by an innumerable circle of friends and family—especially her youngest son’s grandparents, Katy and James Coffman, to whom Chelsea was very close, and her beloved Bulldog, Brutus. Chelsea’s absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 PM, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Masonic Home Clubhouse, Springfield, OH. A scattering of ashes for the immediate family will take place at Chelsea’s favorite spot in Elizabeth, sometime in October. In lieu of flowers and to support her children, a fund has been set up at https://everloved.com/life-of/chelsea-chaney/donate/. We kindly ask you to consider helping in any way possible. Your contributions will echo Chelsea’s undying love for her children. Chelsea will be remembered not for her untimely passing but for the vibrancy, strength, and love that characterized her life. Her light may be extinguished, but we will see her in the memories we hold dear, the beauty in the world around us, and in beautiful landscapes—just like the ones she admired so much in Galena and Elizabeth.
So sorry for your loss. She loved you kids with her whole being. You were her greatest gifts. She loved Jesus and wanted to show you how to follow to follow his lead.
