Phyllis D. Staver

Phyllis D. Staver, 91, of Scales Mound, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena, IL, where friends may call from 4 PM until the time of service. Burial will be in Scales Mound Township Cemetery. She was born on March 31, 1935, the daughter of Glen D. and Letha G. (Smart) Jewell. Phyllis attended grade school and high school in Scales Mound. She married Joe Staver on April 25, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2009. Phyllis loved her family and especially enjoyed celebrating birthdays and cooking for everyone. She worked at Janlin in Warren, IL, before moving to Tucson, where she worked at Lane Bryant. She also enjoyed playing shuffleboard and caring for the elderly. She is survived by her four sons, Tom (Patty), Danny (Clydene), Bob (Cathy), and Ron (Melissa), all of Scales Mound. Her grandchildren include Jason and Jeff (Emily) Webster; T.J.; Breanna (Kyle) Staver; James (Jenny) Trebian; Jenna (Chad) McCartney; Shaye (Jim) Schueller; David (Gail) Bauer; Annie Riggin; Zach (Sade); Jared (Stephanie); Brady and Anna Grace Staver; Logan and Sean Pehl. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Kathy Webster; her son-in-law, Rick Webster; her sister, Doris Van Lent; her brother-in-law, Eugene Van Lent; her two granddaughters, Betsy Riggin and Alicia Staver and a great-grandson in infancy.
