Steven “Reno” Glasgow

Steven “Reno” Glasgow, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and craftsman, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, family, and love. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena is assisting the family. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his remarkable craftsmanship, and his ability to see beauty and possibility in the thing’s others might overlook. Steven attended Galena High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his life, he embraced many different occupations and adventures, approaching each chapter with determination, pride, and a strong work ethic. Steven eventually retired as a professional restoration painter, a career that allowed him to combine his artistic talent, craftsmanship, and appreciation for history. He took great pride in his work and believed in doing every job right. He had a special gift for taking something worn, weathered, or ordinary and restoring it to something beautiful. His work and talents carried him to many places. Steven trained racehorses at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, OK, and worked as a cattleman and ranch manager for Parsons Land and Cattle in Stonewall, CO. He also helped build timber beams for the River Museum in Dubuque, IA, and painted the State Capitol Building in Des Moines. Over the years, he helped restore numerous historic buildings throughout the tristate area, leaving behind a lasting piece of himself in the places he helped preserve. While Steven was proud of his work, his greatest joy came from his family. He loved fishing, gardening, and spending time drawing and painting with his grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing his skills and creativity with them, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. His patience, creativity, and willingness to teach will remain a lasting part of his family’s memories. Steven was first married to Sherry Nivarel, and they were together for 17 years. Sherry preceded him in death on August 2, 2024. Steven later married Vickie Freisinger. They shared 31 years together and were married on March 6, 2022. Vickie survives him as his loving wife. Steven is survived by his wife, Vickie Freisinger; his children, Ryan, Travis, Troy, Brandon, Reno, and Shiloh; his siblings, Kevin, Sharon, and Susie; 14 grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends who will remember him with love and gratitude. He was preceded in death by his parents, Foster Delano Glasgow Jr. and Barbara Harris-Glasgow. Steven leaves behind more than the buildings he restored, the work of his hands, and the beautiful things he created. He leaves behind the memories he made, the knowledge and skills he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely to his family. His hands spent a lifetime restoring and creating beauty, but his greatest work was the love he poured into the lives of those around him. Steven will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
