Charles “Chuck” DuBord, 89, of Galena, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at home in Galena. A gathering will be held from 5 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel in Galena. Burial will be held at a later date. Military honors will be presented at 7:30 PM by Galena VFW Post #2665 and American Legion Post #193. He was born January 27, 1937, in Galena, the son of Charles and Bernice (Wasson) DuBord. Chuck served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1964 as a sergeant. He was united in marriage to his wife of sixty-seven-plus years, Karen Kennedy, on September 13, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena, and she survives. He was employed at Kelly Springfield in Freeport until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Karen; two daughters, Cathy (Robert) Staver of Scales Mound, IL, and Sally DuBord of Elizabeth, IL; one son, Ronald (Jessica) DuBord of Dubuque, IA; his best dog, Amos of Galena; sixteen grandchildren, Annie Riggin, David (Gail) Bauer, Shannon Roberts, Kristin (Ryan) Raab, Steven Roberts, Ryan Olson, Ashlee (Eric) Musser, Katie (Jacob) Gibson, Nicole (Dylan Fosler) DuBord, Kaylee (Kyle Bruscato) DuBord, Joseph DuBord, and Cooper DuBord, Haley Rhodes, Ella, Brennan and Chase Kriemeyer; twenty-three-plus-one in May great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his best friends, Clarence (Linda) Hoftender, and his best euchre buddy, Dylan Fosler. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, two sons, Charles and David, and a granddaughter, Betsy Riggin. The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Vandigo and Dr. Eltibe, their nurses and staff, Galena EMS, and the Police Department for all their assistance and guidance.

So so very sorry for all your loss. Chuck will be terribly missed. He wasn’t only my second dad who knew how to give that “look” to Sally and I and scare the crap out of me he was my brother in law and Papa to my kids. He was one of the very best! I will miss him terribly and know i love you all so much! I have alot of treasured memories of that house in Rodden, IL. Keep the memories close and know he is with you all every day.
