Virginia L. Anderberg

Virginia L Anderberg, aged 78 passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on March 7, 2016 at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, AZ. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 16, 2106 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, IL with Pastor Jenna Couch officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM, on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena.  She was born at home near Scales Mound, IL on February 12, 1938 to her parents the late James and Gladys (Petitgout) Pooley. She graduated from Scales Mound High School in 1955. Following graduation she was employed at Finley Hospital for several years. She married the love of her life Richard Anderberg on September 20, 1959 and enjoyed over 56 1/2 years together. They traveled away from home for fifty of those years accumulating over 300,000 miles of RVing adventures. For almost 30 years they have traveled to Texas for Christmas to spend with their daughters and grandchildren who adored her. After leaving there they would enjoy traveling to the Southwest visiting other family and enjoying Bluegrass festivals. She was office manager for Richard’s earthmoving business until their retirement. She was honored by Illinois LICA in 1990 and National LICA in 1991 as Mrs. Contractor of the year. An avid gardener with a very “green thumb” Virginia grew beautiful flowers and lots of delicious vegetables and so enjoyed sharing her extra produce. She liked shopping and attending auctions to find new treasures. She was a member of Lord of Love Lutheran Church, Galena. Virginia lived a very full life and loved her family and spending time with them. Survivors include her loving husband Richard, her sister Norma (Bob) Jones, Sierra Vista, AZ, daughters Michelle Simpson and Nadine Bonin both of Kountze, TX, grandchildren Andrea, Mikhal, Sheena, Shannon, and Lia. Her aunt Florenzi Grant, of Oakland, CA. Her in-laws Malcolm (Leah) Anderberg of Kirkland, IL, Marian Maurizi of Rockford, IL, Maxine (Ken) VandeDrink of Elgin, IL. Her loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
