Tom Stafford, 64 of Galena, IL passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at his home after a battle with cancer. In keeping with his wishes there will be no public services. Cremation rites will be accorded. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was born July 2, 1952 in Des Moines, IA the son of Lawrence and Miriam (Heetland) Stafford. Tom graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1970. He went onto attend the University Of Fort Collins, CO where he earned his bachelor’s degree in history. For many years Tom has owned and operated the Galena Lumber Company. He enjoyed music, participating in his own band, video games and living in the hollow. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Sheila, a sister, Nancy (Dave) Sunderland, nephew, Anthony (Lisa) Sunderland, great niece, McKenna and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, Doctors and Nurses at UW Madison Hospital and Dr. Matt Gullone your care and compassion during this difficult time will always be remembered.
