Sandra Louise Turley, 79, of Galena, IL passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Elizabeth Nursing Home, Elizabeth, IL. Funeral service will be 11AM, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena, where friends may gather after 9 AM until time of service. Burial will be at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. She was born February 4, 1937 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Bernard and Elsie (Wedoff) Schurman. Sandra attended and graduated from Lyons Township High School. She went onto attend the Evangelical School of Nursing, Chicago and graduated in 1958 with her degree in nursing. Sandra married Robert Turley on May 9, 1959 in Western Springs, IL and he survives. She worked as a school nurse at Park Junior High School, Lagrange, IL. Sandra started her own business developing, designing and marketing her own greeting cards. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Sandra was a member of several United Methodist Churches where she and her husband Bob, did quite extensive cooking for special events. She is survived by her husband Robert of Galena, her son, Grant (Cindy) Turley of Aurora, IL, her daughter, Deann (Bob) Dahlquist of St. Charles, IL, two granddaughters, Savannah Turley and Ashley Dahlquist. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Elizabeth Nursing Home for their care and compassion these past few months.
