Richard “Dicky” Morrissey, 83, of Shullsburg, WI died Friday, November 25, 2016 at Southwest Health Center, Platteville, WI. Funeral mass will be 11 am Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Shullsburg and burial will be in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded graveside. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Monday at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and after 10 AM, Tuesday until the time of mass. The Furlong Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born July 10, 1933 in Shullsburg the son of Harold and Laura (Hillary) Morrissey. He enlisted in the United States Army serving his time in Germany until his honorable discharge. Dick was united in marriage to Phyllis Harwick on November 29, 1958 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and together they were blessed with six children. He was employed at Eagle Pitcher Mine, Gensler Brothers and most recently at Truck Country, Shullsburg where he worked for over thirty-five years. He was a member of the Shullsburg Fire Department for thirty–six years and St. Matthew’s Catholic Church. Dick enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren and attending school activities. Dad never retired and was always on the go taking drives to the airport, mowing lawns, making slow laps around town and enjoying and ice cream cone.

He is survived by his five children, Donna Morrissey, Debbie Cullen, Danny (Susan) Morrissey, Denise (Sal) Morrissey and Darrell (Lisa) Morrissey, his grandchildren, Stephanie Morrissey, Kimberly Morrissey, Brittany Cullen, Blake Cullen, Brock Cullen, Haley Morrissey, Davis Morrissey and Tyson Morrissey, four great grandchildren, Sophie, Dalton, Avery and Chase, one brother, Dennis (Nancy) Morrissey, a sister Kay (Ed) Jeffrey, his faithful companion, Lily, three sisters in-law and one brother in law, Geraldine (Bill) McCauley, Donald Harwick, Dorothy (Gary) Curran and Joann Harwick and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis, a son Steven Richard Morrissey in infancy, a son in-law, Terry Byrne, a brother, Orville a sister, Audrey Bell and two brothers in-law, Donald Bell and James Harwick.
