Mary Filomena Cate, 73, of Andover, MN passed away peacefully at her home March 6, 2018. She was surrounded by her family and beloved dog, “Tootsie”. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Friends may call from 5 to 7 PM, Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Galena. She was united in marriage to Ronald Cate on July 26, 1967 in Warrenville, IL. Her loving husband of 40 years preceded her in death on August 31, 2007. Mary graduated from St. Francis High School in Wheaton, IL. She was a certified travel and tourism professional and loved to travel with her husband Ron. Mary specialized in providing families with memorable vacations to Walt Disney World. She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Patricia (Patrick) Lightheart of Andover, MN, and their three children Mary Cate, Ryan, and Devin; her son, Joseph Mason (Lisa) Cate and their son Andrew Joseph Cate. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Patricia Sentman, sister-in-law Margaret Rovai, brother and sister-in-laws Robert (Sharon) Cate, Carol (Frances) Boland, John (Dawn) Cate, 15 nieces and nephews, and 20 great nieces and nephews and “Tootsie”. Mary was preceded in death by her loving parents, Joseph (Patricia) Rovai, brother Louis Rovai, mother and father-in-law, Mason (Florine) Cate, niece, Danielle, sister and brother-in-law Nancy (Rollin) Duensing, and brother-in-law, John Sentman.
