Dorothy Ann Urbaczewski, 94, of Elizabeth, IL and formerly Stratford, CT passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Midwest Medical Center, Galena, IL. Services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Stratford. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting with local arrangements. She was born April 5, 1922 in Stratford to Stephen and Anna (Granatin) Verespy.   Dorothy graduated from Stratford High School in 1939.  She was united in marriage to Theodore C. Urbaczewski, Sr. on November 25, 1943 and he preceded her in death on November 7, 1989. She was a long time Stratford resident. Dorothy was owner/manager of Lane’s Beauty Salon in Milford, CT until her retirement in 1988. She moved to Elizabeth in 2006 to live with her daughter, Loretta “Laurie” Mattas and son-in-law, the late Richard Mattas. Dorothy is survived by her devoted daughter, Laurie, loving sister, Annette Kalafus, and niece, Lynn Venezia both of Stratford and loving nephews, Christopher (Lisa) Kalafus and William (Kathy) Verespy Jr. of Shelton, CT.  She will fondly be remembered as “adopted” sister, mom, aunt and grandma of many.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Theodore C. Urbaczewski, Jr. and son in-law, Richard Mattas as well as a brother, William Verespy Sr. and sister, Evelyn Northrup.  The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wells, staff at Midwest Medical Center and Galena-Stauss Senior Care for their compassionate care.
