Doris Anne (Ortscheid) Vincent, 93 of Galena, IL passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017. Funeral mass will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 26, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Galena. Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where a parish rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Friends may also call after 10 AM Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. She was born on November 8, 1923 in Galena the daughter of Francis and Ethel (Fiedler) Orstscheid. Doris Anne graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1941 and went on to attend Mary Crest College in Davenport, IA. She married Frank R. Vincent Jr. and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1975. Doris Anne was a lifelong Galena resident and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Galena Elks Lodge. She was very active as a church member serving on the St. Michael’s Mother’s Club, Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar and Rosary Society. Doris Anne was very involved in the community serving on the Hospital Auxiliary, Save Turner Hall and Urban Renewal Board. She enjoyed antiquing and traveling the countryside. Doris Anne is survived by her children, Fredrick (Mary Jo) Vincent and Steven (Patti) Vincent both of Galena, Linda (Ronald) Lange of Maquoketa, IA, six grandchildren, Peter (Patti) Vincent, Tracy (Mike) Furlong, Stephanie (Paul) Espeseth, Michael Vincent, Andrew and Meghan Lange, nine great-grandchildren, Audrey, Anna, Evan, Emma, Jacob, Claire, Brandon (Kasse), Taylor and Oliver, one sister, Carol Smith of Galena and Paul (Miriam) Ortscheid of Bloomingdale, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a great grandson, Matthew, a brother, Donald Ortscheid. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Galena Stauss Senior Living and Midwest Medical Center for all your care and compassion. It will never be forgotten.
