Donna J. Greene, 77 of Galena, IL passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA. Funeral service will be Noon, Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena where friends may call after 9 AM until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Galena. She was born February 5, 1941, in Shullsburg, WI the daughter of Dudley and Emma (Siegel) Beckwith. Donna married LaVerne Greene on April 29, 1961, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Galena and he survives. She owned and operated the Bee Hive in Galena for many years until her retirement. Donna took joy in sending cards to all Galena and Area residents of the nursing home and assisted living facilities for every holiday for the past sixteen years.She was an avid Cubs and Packers fan. Donna loved her family and looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, LaVerne, her two children, Kevin (Michele) and Kim (Grant Melvin) Cook, four grandchildren Nate (Heather Reed) Greene, Amber (Kyle) Larson, Ashley (Bob) Doyle, Justin (fiance’ Samantha Jeffery) Cook, one great grandchild, Kyleigh, a sister, Dorothy Beckwith, two sisters in-law, Jeanette Koehler and Gerry Greiner, three brothers in-law, Ray (Lois) Greene, Wayne (Karen) Greene and Loran (Kathy) Greene and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Kay Wachter and Carol Foster, a half-sister, Helen Stadel, and a niece, Michelle Wachter.
