Deacon Ted Kocol S.O.F 69 of Galena, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Midwest Medical Center in Galena.  Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Galena.  Family will greet friends starting at 9:00 am until service time on Tuesday at the church.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.  Local arrangements entrusted to Furlong Funeral Chapel.

Ted was born August 1, 1949 in Chicago, the son of Theodore J. and Joan S. (Wieczorek) Kocol.  He married Cindy Sinars on February 27, 1971 at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Chicago.  They lived for many years in Chicago, before relocating to Galena in 1996.  Ted was ordained as a Deacon in September 2001, he shared his ministry at both St. Michael and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Galena, until health issues brought him to retirement in 2016.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy; children, T.J. (Vicki) Kocol, Jonathan Kocol, and Denise (Jeremy) Johnson; grandchildren, Jake Stanis, Kody Kocol, Griffin Kocol, Brenna Johnson, Delaney Johnson, Evan Johnson; great-grandchildren, Ty Stanis and Bryar Stanis.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Myanna Johnson; in-laws, Theodore and Elizabeth Sinars; and his best friends, Chuck and Annette Boring

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Deacon Ted’s memory.
