Brian J. Heurung, 65 of Galena, IL and formerly Mokena, IL passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 30, 2017 at Midwest Medical Center, Galena. A celebration of his life will be held from Noon until 3 PM, Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Fried Green Tomatoes, 213 North Main Street, Galena. The Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena is assisting the family. He was on born May 24, 1951 in Morrison, IL the son of John and Barbara (McCulloh) Heurung. Brian graduated from Lockport High School in 1969 and went on to attend Northern Illinois University, DeKalb where he received his B.A. in music education. He was united in marriage to Michelle Mussatto on September 18, 1982 at Shephard of the Hill Church, Lockport. Currently, he was employed by CNA Surety Company, a position he has held for the past thirty-three years. In July of 2016, he and his wife Michelle followed their dream of owning a bed and breakfast and moved to Galena. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Heurung of Lockport, his wife, Michelle of Galena, two sons, Brad (Lisa) Heurung of Aurora, IL and Callan (fiancee’ Katie Wolf) Heurung of St. Louis, MO, first grandchild to be born this spring, a sister, Lori (James) Hubbs of Lockport, a niece Nikki Hubbs and two nephews, Josh and Jeremy Redmon. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Kristi.
