Barbara Jean Tousey, 74 of Galena, IL passed away March 28, 2016 at her home. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Galena. Friends may call Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 4 to 7 PM at the Furlong Funeral Chapel. She was born on November 11, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of John and Frances (Scheurer) Shillington. Barb was united in marriage to Milton Tousey on November 2, 1968 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Palatine, IL and he survives. She began working as a clerk at AT&T in 1959 and was employed there for 33 1/2 years working her way up the ladder and eventually serving as a manager her last ten years until her retirement in 1992. After moving to Galena she worked part-time at Fig Leaf and the Galena Ridge Dry Cleaners. A big part of her life while living in Galena was volunteering in the historical room at the Galena Library, a job she so dearly loved. Barb enjoyed her flower gardens, crocheting afghans and needle point. She is survived by her husband, Milton, a son, Michael (Laura) Tousey, three granddaughters, Lana, Ava and Sophia, two brothers, John (Patti) Shillington and Rob (Linda) Shillington. Barb was preceded in death by her parents. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque, especially Megan and Melanie, her caregiver Jan Smith and her good friend Jerry Westemeier. Their friendship and kindness over the years will never be forgotten.
