EugeneEugene David Monahan, 86 of Galena, IL passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his home. Funeral service will be 11 AM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena and where friends may call after 10 AM at the funeral chapel until time of service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. He was born January 5, 1931 in Hazel Green, WI the son of James and Mary (Gile) Monahan. He was united in marriage to Patricia A. Meneguin on June 30, 1951 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Galena and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2016. Gene worked as an inspector at John Deere Dubuque Works for twenty-eight years until his retirement. He loved antiquing, reading, and vacationing. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by one son, Daniel (Arlene) Monahan of Galena, two daughters, Cynthia (Thomas) Montgomery of Bloomfield, IN and Diane (Robbie) White of Galena, a son-in-law, Gene Glawe of Elkader, IA, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Trisha J. Monahan-Glawe, four brothers and five sisters.
